The Inclusive Swimming Competition-Beyond Handicaps held the first project meeting in Greece with the support of Erasmus+ Sport, in partnership with Turkey , Greece , Italy , Bulgaria and Portugal , and we discussed, planned and implemented an important programme to promote diversity and inclusion in swimming during the first meeting of our ISC-Beyond Handicaps Project. We got together with our project partners to push.
We started the meeting with a comprehensive analysis report prepared by the Lusophone University. This report guided us by identifying the messages and requirements of our programme for specific needs.
We joined brainstorming sessions to create programme content and addressed the details of the swimming event. We enriched our programme with innovative ideas that emerged during this process.
Together with our members, we conducted a capacity analysis workshop of our sports clubs. With this, we identified the necessary steps to successfully implement our programme by making the best use of our resources.
Now is the time to act and put our plans into action! Here are the next steps:
Each partner will take on important roles, from psychological and physical support to security management. The distribution of these tasks has been done thoroughly and the contribution of each partner will ensure the success of our programme.
In addition, we are working to create parallel activities and competitions that encourage friendship, teamwork and fun in the pool!
Together to break down barriers, promote inclusion and create new waves in the world of swimming. Keep following us on this exciting journey and stay tuned for announcements.
This project aims to integrate children with physical disabilities and non-disabilities into swimming activities and promote inclusion and unity in sport at all levels through comprehensive education, digital resources and local/international competitions.
